1- Visa application form

The Norway visa application portal is where you fill out the application form online. You must download, print and sign this form. Get started with the form online here.

2- Fee Receipt and Cover Letter

Print the receipt and signed cover letter from the online UDI portal. This automatically becomes available to print once you’ve submitted your form and paid your visa fee online. This fee is EUR 90.

3- Valid International Passport

Provide your original passport. It must have two blank pages and three months validity remaining. In addition, make two colored photocopies of your passport biodata page (the page with your photograph and personal details).

Also, make photocopies of all UK, Canada, or OECD visas procured within the past five years on it.

4- Proof of Accommodation

Provide a verifiable hotel reservation for your entire stay. The embassy does not need you to pay for actual hotel booking, a reservation is good enough. You can make a verifiable hotel reservation.

5- Personal Identification Documentation (Birth certificate)

Submit clear copies of your personal identification. This is primarily your birth certificate.

6- Social Ties Documentation

These are copies of your marriage certificate and children’s birth certificate. They help you demonstrate your bond to Nigeria, and reasons to return once your travel ends.

7- Proof of Financial Situation (bank statement and payslip)

Provide original bank statements showing turnover from the last three months. If you are an employee, add payslips for the recent past three months.

For your bank statement, aim for a minimum closing balance that is at least twice your cost of trip. Calculate your trip cost by adding your costs of accommodation, airfare, and daily feeding.

If being sponsored, add sponsorship affidavit or sponsorship letter. In this case, you will submit your sponsor’s bank statement. But our agency recommends that you include your personal financial documents to improve your chances.

8- Proof of employment/business ownership/study

You must prove your current economic status in Nigeria. This shows your strong ties to your home country. Provide documents matching your specific professional situation below.

• If you are employed:

Submit an official introduction letter from your employer. Include your employment letter. And copy of your work ID card, if applicable. A copy of your approved work leave also helps

• If you own a business:

Provide your official business registration certificates from the CAC. Include your recent corporate tax clearance documents.

Add your company bank account (together with a reference letter) if there is a respectable amount in such account.

9- Roundtrip Flight Booking

Submit a roundtrip air ticket reservation. Do not purchase the actual ticket until your visa is granted. A reservation is good enough, get one for  NGN 10,000 only.

10- Travel Medical Insurance

2- Host Passport and Permit Copy

Include a copy of your host’s Norwegian passport data page. Non-Norwegian hosts must provide their valid residence permit.

3- Proof of Relationship

Submit documentation proving your relationship with the host. This is relevant if/when host is a relative. So, in such case, add your birth certificates – if host is a sibling or parent. Marriage certificate – if host is a spouse.

Also, you may add photos and/or screenshot of chats if host is a friend or romantic partner that you’re yet to marry.

4- Official Guarantee Form

Provide the original Norwegian guarantee form for visits. Your host must get this stamped by the Norwegian authorities.

5- Proof of Financial Situation

If host will sponsor your trip, include their bank statement and payslips for the past three months. Add their employment contract as well.

6- Proof of Address Ownership or Tenancy (or Utility Bill)

1- Official Business Invitation Letter

Provide a signed invitation from the host company in Norway. The letter must state your identity and visit purpose. Also, your host company should write the letter on their official letterhead. In addition, it pays for such letter to show the company’s official VAT registration number.

As we write this article, VFS Global Norway Nigeria charges appointment booking fee online. But we’ve had experiences with the portal not charging you online. And VFS asking that you pay your appointment booking fee at the submission centre. Whichever you experience is fine.

Once you have selected a date and time, and you’ve successfully paid, you immediately get an email of your appointment confirmation. You can also print it out from the VFS  appointment booking page. Below is what the booking confirmation looks like:

2- Gather your supporting documents

You can go over the list of documents we spoke about above. You may also take a look at the official checklist of documents, from the embassy directly, available on VFS Global website.

Our agency recommends that you always refer to the official embassy checklist before submitting an application. Only the embassy has the right to ask specific documents and make updates as at when due.

We also recommend that you go over the checklist and prepare your document a week before submission. Prepare two folders of original and photocopy of documents. You should not make photocopy of your application form and your bank statement.

3- Submit application

On the day of appointment, visit VFS office in Lagos or Abuja to submit your application.
